What's Inside? How product 3D Renders used to explain the product purpose and show internal details

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Hi! Today I gonna show you 3D product renderings of the door with hidden lock system.

What is the product?

First of all, I'll explain what is the hidden lock system in this particular case.

To hack doors thieves use lockpicks, which they insert in keyholes, and manipulate in specific ways so that to open doors without having original keys. To keep doors protected the company of our clients proposes an installation of additional locks, which haven't any keyhole at all, and can be operated by remote controls, mobile phones or the special chipped keychains.

Why our client need these images?

They wanted to use them along with the explanation text on their new website.

The previous works we did for this client

Some time ago we did for this company 3D renderings of locks, keychain, and the control unit which you can see on the following images, taken from our 3D product Rendering Portfolio.

Today I'll show you 3D Renderings of the locks installed in the door.

At the following visualization, you can see the opened door, and two of four installed locks haven't keyholes.

You can click the images to enlarge them.

To show you them exactly I marked them up.

The following 3D rendering shows us the closed door with the cutout view of the hidden locks.

So, on this sample, we can see how product 3D renderings allow us to show internal details.

Additionally, our clients asked us to make the 3D rendering for the closed door without cutouts for their purposes. Here's the visualization.

Image composition

You might notice we did some big room to the left and to the right of the door in 3D renderings.

Our clients asked us to make it because they need to put an explanation text.

Background

In this case, our clients requested to make the dark gray background because during the discussion our clients and I concluded this product would have the best look with the background of such color. That's because we analyzed 3D visualizations for similar products which have a polished metal and a wood as the materials.

How we did 3D renderings?

We used 3DS Max to make 3D models of the door.

Of course, we used 3D models of locks which we already did some time ago. It's obviously speed up the process of making 3D renderings.

Also, we used V-Ray render elements in order to render channels such as Global Illumination, Direct lighting, Reflection, Shadows, etc. separately, and then we composed and adjusted them in Blackmagic Fusion.
